We are a Brazilian-inspired community percussion troupe in Flagstaff, Arizona. We celebrate the traditional rhythms of Brazil, Africa, and Cuba, as well as the original music of master drummer Marcus Santos. Our concerts break the wall between musicians and audience - everybody can play music and dance!
We welcome people to join us. During the summer, you may have heard our practice sessions under the ramada at Buffalo Park. Now that the days are shorter and the cold weather is setting in, we are on our Winter schedule: Wednesday's from 6:00 - 7:30 PM at Pine Forest School ( 2257 E Cedar Ave).
IF YOU JOIN US ON A SUNDAY, IT IS STRONGLY ADVISED THAT YOU BRING EARPLUGS, ESPECIALLY INDOORS. You can get foam ones at any drugstore, and audiologists recommend you use a pair only 4-5 times before replacing them. We don't want you to damage your hearing, as most of us wear custom-made earplugs much of the time.
Follow us on Instagram @SambaFlag for up-to-date information regarding rehearsal changes and performances.
Join Sambatuque on Facebook to keep up with news, happenings, etc.
A smaller group is available as well- these are the "pro's;" the ones who have been doing it a while and might call themselves a bit obsessed!
If you are interested in joining us, please select the Contact tab and send an email for further details.
